Rehearsals are normally at The Avenue Church of Christ, The Avenue, Surrey Hills, on Thursday nights (7.00 pm until approximately 9.30 pm). Extra rehearsals may be scheduled before major concerts and special events.
A prospective member attends an interview/audition, at which he will sing a short "own choice" piece and demonstrate vocal range and skills in sight reading. If the audition is successful, the singer is invited to join the group for a "probationary period" of two months. At the end of that time agreement about continuing membership will be reached in discussion between the singer and the Conductor.
Members undertake to abide by the group's Charter and Code of Conduct and are expected to support the group's activities, including occasional non-performance fundraising activities.
The group normally performs either in dinner jackets ("black tie") or entirely in black. Touring uniform may be required for members travelling with the group. Members supply their own uniform.
From time to time the group undertakes tours, both within Australia and overseas. Members normally are expected to pay the full cost, but it is sometimes possible for costs to be reduced through the performing (and other fund-raising) efforts of the group.
